The Oxford University Research Unit in collaboration with the Hospital for Tropical Diseases Ho Chi Minh City and the National Malaria Control Programme in Hanoi has conducted research into the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and treatment of falciparum malaria in Viet Nam over the past 10 years. Recent expansion into purpose built laboratories has significantly enhanced the scientific potential with on site access to FACS, Sequencing, Tissue Culture and in the future Pharmacology. A field site has now been established with a population of >150,000 people living in an endemic region on the Viet Nam/Cambodian border.
