Jules Hoffmann Profile |
 |
Research Focus: |
The laboratory of Jules Hoffmann has been engaged for many years in molecular and cellular studies of antimicrobial defenses in insects. Main objectives of the last years were recognition of infectious non-self, signaling pathways and effector molecules. More recently the group has developed an interest of the defense roles of blood cells against invading microorganisms in Drosophila and in Anopheles. The group has expertise in the construction of cDNA libraries, in microarray analysis of blood cells and in the study of blood cell lineages. This expertise is a mandatory basis for the ambitious programme of unravelling the role of mosquito blood cell responses to Plasmodium infections.
