Jean Langhorne Profile |
 |
Research Focus: |
She has been involved in studies on immune responses to malaria parasites in experimental models and human infection for 20 years. The work for the last 5 years has has focused on the following items:
- Establishment of the requirement for CD4 T cells in the protective immune response to Plasmodium chabaudi
- Characterization and regulation of TH1 and TH2 CD4 responses in malaria infections.
- Establishment of the requirement for B cells in protective immunity to blood stage P. chabaudi parasites.
- Establishment of the role of B cells in the regulation CD4 T cell responses
- Generation of TCR transgenic mice to investigate malaria specific immunological memory.
- Characterisation of the interaction of malaria parasites with dendritic cells and the role of Toll receptors.
- Investigation of the human and mouse T cell responses to variant antigens
