Thanasis Loukeris Profile |
 |
Research Focus: |
The laboratory of Dr Loukeris at IMBB is currently established and is closely collaborating with the laboratory of Prof. C . Louis, sharing common facilities (e.g. mosquito rearing, animal facility) and expertise. Dr Loukeris has an expertise on insect transgenesis (Drosophila, medfly, mosquito) documented through high ranking publications. Currently, Loukeris lab shares its activities between an established collaboration with Prof’s Kafatos lab, regarding further development of anopheles transgenic technology, and the study of molecular mechanisms underlying the ookinete midgut invasion process. Within the framework of BIOMALPAR NoE, an extensive collaboration is anticipated between Loukeris lab and the labs of Dr. Michael Blackman and Prof. Kafatos regarding the functional involvement of parasitic proteases (sub2) and Anopheles serpins in the ookinete midgut invasion process.
