  Marcus Meissner Profile

Research Focus:

His laboratory is working on different aspects of host-parasite interactions. In order to understand the function of essential genes in apicomplexan parasites his group developed novel reverse genetic tools that allow the specific up- and down-regulation of candidate factors. The long-term goal of this group is to establish a conditional library of essential genes in order to identify and characterise novel vaccine and drug targets in apicomplexa.

In an independent approach this group aims at the identification of host cell factors required by the parasite for completion of the asexual life cycle. Therefore a genome wide screen employing RNA interference is currently performed.
