  David Roberts Profile

Research Focus:

The Blood Research Laboratory has a programme of research with the aim of characterising host-parasite interactions relevant to the pathogenesis of severe malaria, particularly the role of adhesive phenotypes of malaria-infected erythrocytes in pathogenesis and modulation of host cell function. The studies have integrated clinical, functional and genetic studies in collaboration with colleagues in Kilifi Kenya and in Thailand. Current projects include a study of the pathogenesis of malarial anaemia and a study of the role of the clumping adhesive phenotypes in disease.
