  Henri Vial Profile

Research Focus:

The Vial team has a 20 year experience in malaria research. The major objective has been to unravel the malaria parasite specific metabolic pathways for biosynthesis of phospholipids with a strong expertise in lipid biochemistry and analysis of the enzymes; this has led to a major contribution in antimalarial drugs. An expertise in molecular biology has been developed to identify new genes mediating the lipid metabolism and to study their regulation using parasite transformation and molecular genetics. The activities are extending towards cell biology studying parasite specific compartments with a new group. The laboratory has also a strong commitment in teaching in a Ph.D programme which has been strongly enforced by the recent creation of a chair of Professor of Molecular Parasitology. This will strengthen its participation to cluster 2, WP1 and 4
